Automatic calculation of serial projects (batch processing)
WithCadnaAeit is possible to automatically calculate a mesh or individual receiving points for different projectsin series. This is the type of batch processing.
The steps needed to configure batch processing are explained below:
Change Command by launching CadnaA
- Right-click on theCadnaAon the WINDOWS desktop.
- Select the command from the context menuProperties.
- Insert into the "Destination" box, after chain"cna32.exe", a single blank space and the following string:"/batch=1".
CNABATCH IN and OUT
- Create a CNABATCH directory on your unit C. In CNABATCH, create two subdirectories called IN and OUT.
It is mandatory to appoint subdirectoriesas IN and OUT |
CNABATCH is the default directory for the batch function. If you use this name, you do not need to modify the Cadnaa.ini file. (If you want to use a different name, see the following
link).
Therefore, the routes are:
C:\cnabatch\in
C:\cnabatch\out
- Copy all the *.CNA files to be processed to the IN directory. Needless to say, each project file must define the corresponding calculation settings and noise grid.
Launch of automatic calculation
When it startsCadnaAwith the parameter"/batch=1"in the expanded command line, you will search for files in the IN directory every 30 seconds. If files are found, they will be opened and calculated one by one. The results will be saved with the same name in the OUT directory and the files already calculated will be deleted from the IN directory.
OnceCadnaAhas processed all the files, close the program as usual.
CadnaAshould not be executed using batch mode for normal project work, but only for batch calculations because in batch mode the software attempts to open any file in the IN directory.

To save yourself the hassle of having to delete and re-enter batch parameters on the command line over and over again, you may want to create a shortcutCadnaAadditional on the WINDOWS desktop (e.g. copying) where the batch parameter is set permanently. For the clarity, the new shortcut could have a name, e. CadnaA-Lote. Use this shortcut to start the program for batch calculation.
This allows for professional and very efficient work withCadnaAespecially if multiple PCs are available on a network.
In this context, also pay attention to the comprehensive installation of PCSP (program-controlled segmented processing) - (see following
link).
Order of processing
It is necessary to distinguish:
- Processing order with multiple CadnaA files in the IN batch directory: Processing occurs according to the date of the CadnaA file, with the oldest calculated first, etc.
- Order of processing of mosaics within a CadnaA file: Individual mosaics are processed according to their order in the "Section" table (top to bottom). The order in which the CadnaA file was last saved is relevant.
BATCH command options (Lot)
Using the BATCH command it is possible to execute calculations automatically for meshes (noise map) or individual receiving points for multiple files or to continue a stopped calculation at the point where it stopped. Selection of the desired mode is controlled by parameters in blocks of text (see following
link). If you do not create a block of text, a mesh is calculated automatically.
Definition of a local text block
To define parameters for calculations in batch mode, define a block of local text called CNABATCH (in capital letters). Enter one or more of the following commands (in separate lines) to execute the corresponding calculation:
Parameter | Value | Calculation of |
Calc_imm | 0 | no receiver points (default) |
Calc_imm | 1 1 1 | with receiver points (only active variants) |
Calc_imm | 2 | with receiver points (all variants) |
Calc_raster | 0 | no mesh |
Calc_raster | 1 1 1 | mesh (only active variants, by default). |
Calc_raster | 2 | mesh (all variants) |
Update_raster | 1 1 1 | continues a calculation interrupted from the breaking position (equivalent to selecting the Grid|Calc Grid command while holding down the SHIFT key) |
Calc_message | Computer1 |
|
Calc_poll | 1 1 1 | calculation of air pollution with APL option |
CALC_IMM includes individual receivers and, if any, building assessments. |
